First Timer Packages

Many of our day trips offer beginner packages, allowing those who have never skied or snowboarded to learn the basics at an affordable price. Packages always include a lesson and rental equipment (skis/snowboard, boots/bindings and poles for skiers), and a lift ticket good for a learning area designed specifically for beginners. Almost all of our day trips offer beginner packages at serious discounts compared to going on your own.

Even if beginner packages aren't available at a certain mountain, lessons and rental equipment are almost always available at a serious discount, and beginners are still highly encouraged to sign up. 

Club Gear Rentals

We realize that many first timer skiers and riders don't yet own the proper gear to enjoy a day on the mountain. Jackets and snowpants are significant investments often costing hundreds of dollars each. For that reason, Stony Brook Ski & Snowboard Club offers jacket and snowpant rentals, allowing those without adequate gear to be dry and warm on the mountain. The club also offers gloves and goggles for purchase at rates lower than most ski shops, in an effort to make the sport as accessible as possible to those trying it out for the first time.

Rental gear is usually distributed on Friday afternoons before a trip, and is collected upon return to campus.

Jackets and most snowpants are made by Burton, with our helmets made by Anon.

RENTAL PRICING

$10/day or $25/week for jackets and snowpants

$5/day or $15/week for helmet rentals. Some beginner packages include helmet rentals.

A credit or debit card is required to rent, and a $20/item deposit is required. This will be collected at the time of rental, and will be refunded upon return if gear is not damaged. Lost, stolen or damaged gear is subject to a replacement fee which varies by item. For more information, contact us at sbuskiclub@gmail.com.

We highly recommend reserving gear in advance via the registration form for each trip. Sizing is limited and we cannot guarantee availability.

GLOVE & GOGGLE PRICING

$17.50 to purchase gloves

$29.50 to purchase goggles.

Because gloves and goggles are more prone to scratches, tears and loss than jackets and snowpants, we do not rent them out.
