Winter Break is coming, and it's time to expand our horizons to the West, Skiwolves!
Join us on to Salt Lake City's Cottonwood Canyons from January 7th to January 14th, 2023.
TRANSPORTATION
We will be flying out of JFK to SLC on Saturday, January 7th, at 11 am via JetBlue. Our flight tickets include two checked-in bags that will let you bring your own skis/snowboard! Note that transportation to the airport is not going to be provided. Once in Utah, all other transportation will be arranged by us. Reasonable extra transportation costs (ranging from $5 to $10) to the resorts may come up. We’ll return to NY on Saturday, January 14th, at 9:30 pm.
THE MOUNTAINS
We will stay at Brighton Resort, which is right next to Solitude Resort. We will have 6 days of skiing between our flights, or even 7 if you catch some night skiing at Brighton after the flight in!
Due to staffing issues at Utah Transit the bus route from Solitude to Snowbird has been cut. If you would like to go to Snowbird you will have to take a 2+ hour bus ride(free) or get an Uber/Taxi.
SKI PASSES
We strongly recommend using the IKON Base pass. This pass gives you access to 5 days at Brighton and Unlimited days at Solitude. The cost is $469. Keep in mind that we will be using the Ikon Pass at future destinations throughout the season (TBD), so getting it for this trip really makes sense. Without the pass, you will have to arrange your own lift tickets directly from each resort.
LODGING
We have a ski-in/ski-out house rented at Brighton, and we’ll have access to two kitchens(1 full kitchen and a kitchenette), two large bathrooms, a hot tub, a sauna, and a fireplace! We will be sharing queen beds and using couches/futons to cut down the cost per person (gendered rooms will be available). This is a private house, so out of respect for the homeowner and fellow houseguests, we ask those who come on the trip to treat the property as if it was their own home. There will be quiet hours. You’re also expected to clean up after yourself. There will be 17 people staying in the house. If you are interested in viewing the property, it is listed here.
PRICING
The total cost of this trip is $967 (including flights with two checked bags, transportation, and lodging). A deposit of $478 will be required upfront, and the other $489 will be due November 15th.
One ticket per person! Tickets are only for SBU students (grad or undergrad) unless given prior approval.
