We are the #Skiwolves! Whether you've been skiing or snowboarding for years, or if you're a first timer who's been wanting to try, come join us for some awesome days on the mountain. We plan ski and snowboard trips for all abilities through the winter season, from December through April.
Once the snow melts, #Skiwolves keep going. Mountain biking, ziplining, hiking and more carry us through the warmer months, with other events though the year. Join our mailing list at bit.ly/skiwolves, and keep an eye out for events!
Since the first trip the club took in February 2015, hundreds of Stony Brook University students have joined us on a trip. As our rosters have grown and with increasing funding from the Undergraduate Student Government, our trips have become more and more affordable, allowing more Seawolves to become Skiwolves. What are you waiting for?
Most of our day trips are to the Catskill and Pocono Mountains to destinations like Belleayre, Hunter and Windham. We also take overnight trips to Vermont and northern New England over Spring Break and select weekends, and we head out west over Winter Break. For more info on where we go, head to this page. For more info on our executive board who plans and manages our trips and events, read on below.
2022-2023 E-Board
Kayla McKenna // PRESIDENT
Kayla McKenna is a third-year student at Stony Brook majoring in English with minors in Music and Political Science. Kayla started snowboarding when she moved to Vermont to work for the Winter season. She immediately fell in love and tried to get out every day she had the chance to. Along with snowboarding, Kayla also enjoys biking, hiking, and playing the guitar.
As President, Kayla hopes to get as many people as possible to get out on the slopes by leading fun and affordable trips. She is responsible for setting and monitoring the club's goals, running meetings, and delegating tasks as necessary. She's the club's heart and inspires everyone else on the e-board to bring their best to the table.
Matthew LAi // vice president
Matthew Lai is a fourth-year student at Stony Brook, double majoring in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics. He got into skiing when he joined the Ski Club in the Spring semester of 2020, where he met many great people who helped him improve in skiing. In addition to skiing, Matthew loves following the Jets, watching movies, and hanging out with friends. He hopes to meet new people on trips in the upcoming semesters.
As Vice President, Matthew hopes to not only continue to plan fun events and trips but also create a safe space and encourage those who also want to develop a love for skiing and snowboarding. He believes that with the new Eboard, great things will come and hopes everyone will tag along for the journey!
Michael Verdecanna // treasurer
Michael is a second-year student at Stony Brook studying electrical engineering. His father introduced him to skiing 7 years ago in the Pocono Mountains. Over the past 3 years, he has had 20+ day seasons and has traveled all throughout Eastern and Western America. Michael enjoys time on the mountain and looks to share that experience with others. He can't wait to ski some powder with all of you this Winter!
As treasurer, Michael controls the club's money, its collection, and disbursement. He prepares the financial reports for our trips and keeps an account of all transactions using an excellent excel sheet he designed.
Patrick Gibbs // SECRETARY
(…)
As secretary, Patrick maintains all of the records, files and details that are important for the smooth operation of the club. He also manages our Newsletter and works with the president to set the agenda.
Sara Medved // public relations
Sara Medved is a second-year international student-athlete from Spain double-majoring in Computer Science and Applied Math. Her dad, who was a ski instructor in Kirchberg, Austria, introduced her to skiing when she was about 5 years old. Skiing has always been a father-daughter thing for her. Now that she is studying on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, she's happy to have found a new family to ski with: the SkiWolves.
As the PR Officer, Sara is responsible for the club's social media and web presence. She promotes upcoming trips and showcases past trips' highlights. She replies to emails and DMs, and maintains our trip calendar updated. She loves storytelling and photography and is currently working on improving the front end of this website, implementing a gallery section where everyone can share and download trip pictures.
Samantha Lankowicz // Graphic Designer
Sam is a third-year student double majoring in Atmospheric Science and Geology. She started skiing at a small mountain in Pennsylvania when she was 8 years old, and her favorite place to shred the slopes is Mont Tremblant in Canada. Sam loves challenging runs, but also loves to help beginners share her excitement for the sport. Don't be afraid to ask Sam about skiing or about the weather on the mountain! When she's not on the slopes, Sam is also a member of the Spirit of Stony Brook Marching band and tennis club.
As Graphic Designer, Sam plans to create exciting and informative fliers and posts to attract new members to the club and ensure members know every Ski Club event. Sam can't wait to get the Skiwolves on the slopes and bring new Skiwolves on board!
Yash Kapoor // Event Coordinator
Yash Kapoor is a second-year student at Stony Brook majoring in Computer Science. He went on his first ski trip along with the SkiWolves club. Since then, he's been hooked on the sport and hopes that others get a first chance to try it as well. Yash loves the outdoors, especially hiking and Soccer. He particularly loves the traveling aspect of the sport in addition to the thrill of exploring a Mountain.

Past E-Board
Huge amounts of gratitude go out to our past e-board, who helped shape the club as it is today. Many of our past e-board have put countless hours and effort into planning trips, events and more. We wouldn't be where we are today, in terms of the number of trips we offer, the ambition behind the events we plan, or the number of members we have, if it wasn't for the awesome e-board who've been with us from Day 1.
